When my grandmother began losing her memory, her photographs became clues to a history I never knew. I used her images to trace her journey from mainland China into Hong Kong, imagining around the fragments of her life. In the absence of her past, I became the architect of her memories.
Measuring from memory, I began building places that no longer existed, but might still linger in her fading mind. Memories are clarified back into existence, lying somewhere between reality and my recollections of it, in the details of a photograph and spaces beyond. As her reality and my imagination converge, our bond strengthens, bridging histories across generations and places.
當阿嬤的記憶開始褪色，那些靜默的相片成為我探索未知歷史的線索。透過她的影像，我試圖重構她從中國大陸一路走到香港的旅程，編織她一生的點滴。當過去即將離場，我成為了她記憶的建築師。
以記憶為度量，構築一個早已消逝的時代——然而或許仍在她漸漸模糊的記憶深處徘徊，在現實與我腦海中的回響之間重新顯現，遊走於照片的細節與影像之外無盡的想像空間。於是，她的現實與我的幻想交織。在時間與地域的界限之外，有一種無聲的默契。
祖母の記憶が色あせ始めたとき、彼女の写真は、私が知らなかった歴史をたどる手がかりとなった。その写真をもとに、祖母が中国本土から香港へと至る旅路を追いながら、彼女の人生の断片を一つひとつ編み上げていった。記憶が失われていく中で、私は彼女の記憶の建築家になったのだ。
記憶を頼りに、今はもう存在しない時代を再び作り上げた。それは彼女の薄れゆく記憶の奥深く、まだどこかに残っているかもしれない風景だった。現実と私の想像の間を行き来しながら、その姿が写真の細部やその向こう側に浮かび上がり、再び形を取り戻していく。
こうして、彼女の現実と私の幻想が重なり合い、私たちの絆はより深まっていく。世代や空間を超えて、私たちは歴史の欠片をつなぎ、新たな物語を紡ぎ出していくのだ。

I thought you were swept into the ocean of oblivion. I dive in looking for you, only to realize you washed up on the other side of Memory, one step ahead of me."
妳眼中的那片海，只有妳能夠抵達的那座城，他們已經消失，或正在消失，已不存在於我的時空。我以為妳迷失在遺忘的海洋，我沈入它去尋找妳，可妳卻已抵達記憶的彼岸。
